Choco Peeps Disease

A few days after we made these chocolate covered Peeps we noticed some weird crystallization forming on the outer chocolate shell.

I don't know what kind of weird chemical reaction is going on here...

Pretty gross! We're calling it Choco Peeps Disease.

Classic/Obscure Comic Ads

Say No To Crack posted some classic comic ads, as well as some strange ones that I don't remember seeing. I did have Kryponite Rocks though. And a hypno coin, even!

The best ads, though, were the Sea Monkey ads, which win for the higest level of false advertising possible. "Teach them to obey your commands," my ass!

Peeps in Chocolate

Once the kids caught sight of this photo, the idea of making chocolate covered peeps could not be shaken. So the weekend after Easter we grabbed a bunch of heavily discounted peeps and chocolate easter bunnies.

The chocolate bunnies were dismembered and boiled to a thick sauce. Peeps were lined up in rows unaware of their impending yet delicious fate. Thus began the dipping.

I think we were all feeling a little queasy from all the peeps and chocolate we ate while making these, so when they finally cooled we generally agreed that they were way too sweet! Thumbs-up nonetheless. They were much better the next day.

I think maybe a darker chocolate would be better.

Southern Lights

A light show over Antarctica makes for a great image.

"The ring of light that the solar storm generated over Antarctica glows green in the ultraviolet part of the spectrum, shown in this image. The IMAGE observations of the aurora are overlaid onto NASA’s satellite-based Blue Marble image. From the Earth’s surface, the ring would appear as a curtain of light shimmering across the night sky."

Also available as an animation.
