I like my new scanner

Here's a drawing I did tonight, freshly scanned and photoshopped. It's called 'Conglomerator.'

My new scanner is one of those scanner copier printer deals, with 1200x2400 optical resolution. Ten years ago that kind of quality would have cost at least 500 bucks but this was less than a hundred. Yay progress. The included software kind of tries to take over all of your digital imaging life, but there is a standalone scan program buried in there, so that's good.

Lil' Drawing No. 43

The Lil' Drawing series continues with Lil' Drawing number forty-three, a.k.a. 'perplexed osmosis.'

My apologies for the longish pause since No. 42... I had a broken scanner and some malfunctioning internal organs.

All of My Love, by Ween

Here is a pretty amazing rendition of Led Zeppelin's All of My Love performed by Ween. This is from the Ween: Live in Chicago DVD, filmed at the Vic Theatre. It's a little goofy at first, but watch to the end.

Get it before it's gone (or get the original from Amazon.)

Squishy Earth

Did the Earth have to be round? What if it was all flattened out like a pancake, or if all the heavy mass was on one side — would it warp out like an egg?

These hypothetical Earths are ridiculous, and the font choice doesn't help.

Previously: Squishy Moon.

Strange little creatures

Dunno what they are or what any of it means but I like these lil dudes.

They sorta look like these old dingbat fonts from Emigre.

The World May Never Know

Neatorama recently posted a list of the 25 most important questions in the history of the universe including no. 25, "How Many Licks Does It Take to Get to the Center of a Tootsie Pop?"

Apparently it depends on how good your Licking Machine is.

Here's a link to the original hand-drawn animated Tootsie Roll Pop ad... and a modern 3D computer generated one. (John Kricfalusi would not approve.)

Yummi

A bearskin rug made of gummi bears. This sculpture would last about ten minutes in my household.

But are they the yummy Haribo Gold Bear gummi bears?

IOU 1 IO

Check out this beautiful image of Jupiter's moon Io, featuring 3 volcanoes going off simultaneously. It was captured last week by the New Horizons spacecraft.

Good thing the New Horizons didn't crash, ouch.
