Roundtable: 1st Thing in the Morning

Welcome to the Roundtable. We're a motley group of bloggers and every Thursday we have a small discussion at someone's site... and this week, it's here. Anyone can comment on these posts, so make yourself at home.

This week's topic is: your 1st blog of the day.

Most of us are creatures of routine: roll out of bed in the morning, grab coffee, catch the train. Since we're all bloggers we probably have a few sites we just gotta check every day. So what's the first website you read?

(Checking the weather doesn't count.)

Oh, and mine is Lileks.

Just doesn't seem quite right…

Oryphon Obdormition

Today I thought I heard a scroop. Turning to look, I bumped into a snorkel box, then slipped on a pile of spraints. I landed smack on my ophyron, twisting my left minimus and badly cutting my right purlicue. Phosphenes and hemidemisemiquavers filled my brain as jarns, nittles, grawlix and quimp flew out of my mouth.

Um...why are you looking at me like that?

Budgie Xmas Update

The parakeets are getting used to the Christmas tree. They still won't fly onto it though.

Each of them utterly destroyed by a high-powered golf ball, in slow motion for your viewing pleasure.

Roy Newell, 1914-2006

One of the first abstract expressionists, Roy Newell is thought to have produced less than 100 paintings in his career. Not that he was lazy — he would rework his paintings over and over until they had reached 'perfection.' He died of cancer yesterday at the age of 92.
"He acknowledges no outside pressure on the pace of their creation, allowing layers and patterns to emerge on an organic clock set to his own evolving emotional and intellectual understanding of their exigencies."

To see a small gallery of his work click here.
