Camouflage

Lio Bloin paints Chinese citizens to make them blend into their surroundings, like ghosts. There's a lot of cultural influence that I'm sure I am missing, but the surreal effect is still amazing.

Streamline

My latest painting, named Streamline, is acrylic and oil on canvas. It has a light layer of irridescent blue gloss that makes it almost impossible to photograph. But it looks great in person, trust me :P

Less Tacky Fractals

Somewhere along the line fractals got lumped in with potheads, tie dye and the Grateful Dead, but some of these entries to the 2007 Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest are unique and aesthetically pleasing. Art... In... Spaaaaace!

Here's another beautiful image. It's a Hubble view of the Great Nebula in Carina. 6500 - 10000 light years from Earth, this composite image is 50 light years across and contains at least a dozen stars that are 50 to 100 times the size of our sun. More info at Wikipedia, of course.

Chris Jordan creates very large images which display a certain quantity of an item. This is a detail of Shipping Containers, a 6 x 10 foot digital artwork which "depicts 75,000 shipping containers, the number of containers processed through American ports every day." See the full image and others here. via the presurfer.
