Here are some photos from August 24, 2007, the day after 80 mph winds swept through Chicago. These are all from the Lakeview neighborhood, off Addison.
This is the scene that greeted me when I got off the bus coming home from work the previous evening. I went home to grab my camera, but then the storm started again. I took all of these photos on the way to work the next day. The city had already had been cleaning up trees all night, luckily for me this was still there to get a photo. Not so lucky for the truck or the car:

Another view of the tree above. Hot and humid air mixed with the smell of wet wood, dirt and leaves.

A young healthy tree, but the roots couldn't quite hold it:

A lot of the bigger trees showed signs of internal damage, this one was full of worm holes.

Wires were down everywhere. No injuries reported, though, which seems pretty amazing.

You're not going any further on this street.

My car now.

You just hate to see that. Unless it's not your car, then it's awesome.

Tree vs. fence.

Tree vs. fence 2.

It just keeps going on like this, block after block…

A little yellow caution tape in case you didn't quite see the GIANT TREE IN THE ROAD:

And here it is, the storm that brought us all the fun. I guess if there's one thing I learned from this disaster, it's that trees are the enemy and must be destroyed. Join me and together we shall vanquish them from the Earth!

That's all. Hope you enjoyed.
