Don't conceal your tragic flaw… give the Doctor Rock a call

Dr. Rock, by Ween, live in Chicago. This was orignally a really sludgy lo-fi song from the album The Pod, just Dean and Gene and a drum machine. Very cool to see it as a totally loud, rockin out crowd pleaser.

I don't know, I've always struggled with the difference between early Ween/Molly Ween (Gene, Dean, and drum machine) and the full band later Ween. Some songs just work so well in a lo-fi drum machine format. That bumper sticker "Drum machines have no soul" is total bullshit -- it all depends how the machine is used, and of course Ween use it brilliantly. I like the live Ween and the full(er) band Ween, but I also like the 2 guys-and-a-drum-machine Ween.

Like "I'll be your jonny on the spot" works infinitely better on record than live, for instance.

Definitely, the drum machine stuff is really great. I'm amazed by their ability to translate it into a live performance, same song but a totally different experience.
